Tisdale transfer site stays open

East Enders will be glad to know that Timmins council has voted against closing the Tisdale garbage transfer site.

The matter came up earlier this year, and was finally put to a vote at last night’s council meeting.

The motion was seen as a compromise to a full closure, with the site only operating from May until late October.  The motion was lost in a 4-4 tie.

Public works director Pat Seguin says it will now stay open year-round, two days a week. “No changes there, we’ll follow council’s direction,” he told My Timmins Now Dot Com.

Closing it in the winter would have saved the city $40,000 of the annual $70,000 operating cost.
