When you drive by the main Timmins fire hall on Cedar St. S. this week, you’ll notice the Timmins Police Service flag flying overhead.
It’s the result of a good-natured Thanksgiving food drive between the two services. They collected a total of about 500 pounds of food for the Timmins Food Bank. Police collected more than half, so Timmins Fire has to fly the flag for a week.
Deputy Fire Chief Ellard Beaven says it was a fun competition that also solved the problem of having a food drive during the pandemic. And he says no one is a loser in this type of competition.
