ATVs on city streets are against a provincial law; TPS is cracking down

Timmins Police are watching out for all-terrain vehicles being operated on city streets. It’s against a provincial law.

Communications coordinator Marc Depatie says there’s been a spate of complaints.

“This is an area of concern that has been identified to the Timmins Police Service, especially in the area of Connaught Hill in South Porcupine and a lot of areas within the Township of Mountjoy,” he remarks. “It’s being brought to our attention by a number of concerned citizens. It places the ATV operator as well as pedestrians and other traffic at undue risk when this sort of thing continues and persists to occur.”

If you’re caught, you could face a large fine, suspension of your driver’s licence, and seizure of your ATV.
