As it wraps up 20 years of work and closes its books, the Porcupine Miners Memorial committee is giving $18,000 to the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation.

Miners memorial chairperson Lynda Geddes says it’s a final gesture in memory of the 600 miners who lost their lives in he mines of the Porcupine Camp since 1911.

Hospital foundation donor relations manager Barb McCormick says the money will go towards four new vital sign monitors in the emergency department.
