There’s nothing to worry about now that the Timmins Public Library has put the “public” back into its main branch. With limited hours and various COVID-19 safety measures in place, it is open to patrons for the first time in six months.
The library in Iroquois Falls has been open since July 28th. CEO Diane Gagnon says hours are limited, and there’s no computer access. But all the other services are available.
What started at two patrons inside at a time, Gagnon says, was quickly upped to five.
“Because patrons are aware of what’s going on,” she observes. “So you know, they don’t want to get it (COVID-19), we don’t want to get it, so everyone’s complying with the rules.”
And just like in Timmins, for patrons who aren’t comfortable going into the library, curbside pick-up is still available.
“We work with gloves and we put the book outside between the two doors and they come in and they pick up their book and they’re on their way,” Gagnon says. “So we have no contact with them and they like it and I’m happy about that.”
