News Teamwork by first responders to find missing kayaker SHARE ON: Denis Puska, staff Wednesday, Aug. 12th, 2020 (MyTimminsNow.com file photo) Teamwork from first responders in Timmins is being credited to finding a lost kayaker on Tuesday evening. The 52 year old female kayaker was separated from her party just after 4 pm in the Grassy River area. The search included a nine kilometre stretch of the River and the adjoining trail systems. A Timmins Police Service officer had to climb down a 150 foot embankment, and through a swampy area to locate the missing person. The officer brought the person nearly 1.5 kilometres where she could be treated by EMS paramedics. The kayaker was treated for dehydration and other exposure related issues before being released.
