July 8th 2020 Road Report

Heat Warning in effect for Timmins, Cochrane, and Iroquois Falls. As reported by Environment and Climate Change Canada:

“Daytime high temperatures in the low thirties will begin today and will continue through the end of the week. Overnight low temperatures near 18 degrees Celsius will provide little relief from the heat. Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the Air Quality Health Index approaching the high risk category. The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors. Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle. Watch for the symptoms of heat illness: dizziness/fainting; nausea/vomiting; rapid breathing and heartbeat; extreme thirst; decreased urination with unusually dark urine.” For more details, click on the link here.

No collisions to report, however:

  • Laforest Road from Airport Road to Highway 655 will be reduced to a single lane during the day and opened back to two lanes at night, due to paving work. Please proceed with caution.
  • Birch Street South from Kimberley Avenue to Kirby Avenue is closed, due to sewer repairs
  • Moore Street from Legion Drive to 73m South of Legion Drive is closed for some sewer repairs
