Yard sales in Timmins during COVID-19 pandemic get thumbs-up from City Hall

It’s the first-ever yard sale season during a global pandemic.  And in Timmins, city clerk Steph Palmateer says there’s nothing in provincial rules or guidelines that prevents anyone from having one.

“We’re permitting them,” Palmateer tells My Timmins Now Dot Com,  “provided the person having the yard sale ensures that people attending comply with the provincial orders for physical distancing.  Anybody paying in cash, then the person receiving that should be wearing gloves and a mask.”

Palmateer says you need to post a sign informing shoppers of the measures.

“Maximum of five people and then they also have to ensure that people that are there are maintaining a safe distance from each other.”
