Small forest fire near Kidd mine site under control

A small forest fire near the Kidd mine site is under control.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says it was reported at suppertime, and was about three hectares in size, which is roughly three football fields.

OPP were controlling traffic up Highway 655 from Timmins to the mine entrance and turnoff to keep going to Cochrane.  They expected to be doing that until about 10pm.  But shortly after 7:30, Timmins Deputy Fire Chief Ellard Beaven reported that the fire was contained.
Here is a Facebook Live report from about 7:30pm at the corner of Highway 655 and Laforest Rd. in Timmins.
