Every day at noon for the duration of the COVID-19 emergency, a group led by Mayor George Pirie called the Timmins Health Table will issue an update.

Sunday is Mother’s Day, and city clerk Steph Palmateer points out that all city cemeteries are open to families who want to pay tribute to their late matriarchs.

“We’d like to remind the public about provincial gathering restrictions given the COVID-19 pandemic of only five people being permitted to be together and while doing so, they must be practicing the safe physical distancing of at least two metres or six feet,” Palmateer details. “We know and understand how hard this is on families.  Unfortunately these are necessary restrictions for everyone’s safety.  So we do ask that if you’re out visiting, please do adhere to these provincial requirements.”
