Timmins Public Library launches streaming service for cardholders

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic that made it close its doors, the Timmins Public Library has launched a new digital streaming service.

Chief executive officer Carole-Ann Churcher says all you need is your library card to use Hoopla.

“Library members can borrow movies, television shows, documentaries, ebooks, comics and audio books for free,” she outlines. “There’s so much content available for adults, teens and children.”

“All you need is your library card and PIN number to get started,”Churcher continues.  “You can call the library and we can get you set up if you don’t already have a card. Also, any items borrowed are just returned automatically, so there are no fines.”

Fines have also been suspended for books that were checked out before both branches were forced to close.

Churcher says there’s also digital programming available.  It ranges from story time to yoga for kids.  And in the days ahead, there will be a Harry Potter book club.
