Timmins Police Chief John Gauthier interprets the low volume of calls about people not observing physical distancing as a sign that we’re paying attention.
Between Sunday and yesterday, there were only four calls to police about groups gathering, and 59 since the beginning of the month.
Still, the chief wants anyone seeing that behaviour to let police know.
“We know that the warmer weather is coming. Enjoy yourself, enjoy your weekend, stay safe, but also I don’t want this to be a message that I’m trying to discourage anyone from calling us,” Gauthier states. “That’s what your police service is there for, is to follow up on any incidents of this type.”
