Mayor’s Health Table – Tues., April 21

Every day at noon for the duration of the COVID-19 emergency, a group led by Mayor George Pirie called the Timmins Health Table will issue an update.

‘WE MUST REMAIN VIGILANT’: Mayor

Members of Mayor George Pirie’s Health Table are welcoming news from the province that we’ve likely hit the peak of coronavirus infections.  At the same time, though, they’re all warning against letting our guard down.

“We can not allow that to at all take any focus away from what we must do to control the spread of COVID-19,” the mayor insists.

He notes that the 1,200 tests conducted by public health officials are a statistically insignificant portion of the region’s population.  He says there will be more positives than the current 50.

So he we must all continue to observe physical distancing, stay home, and be vigilant about following all of the measures to prevent the spread of the virus.

“And we have been vigilant,” Pirie remarks. “The citizens have responded tremendously well.  I’m just very, very proud of people that live in Timmins.  They have responded tremendously well to the challenge in front of them.”
