Council approves audit of Mattagami Waste Water Plant

An external audit of the Mattagami Waste Water Plant has been approved by Timmins city council.

The project is over budget by around $6M and now has an operating budget of just over $80M. Mayor Steve Black says the next step is to put out a request for proposal.

Council will see who bids on the audit, and then will decide who qualifies based on certain criteria. That will include how much experience any given company has, and how much it will cost.

Black says having an audit will give accountability and transparency on the project, which has been the subject of controversy.
