Timmins city council is one step further to getting LED street lights installed. They decided last night to sign a contract with Real Term Energy, to have almost four-thousand lights installed around town.
City Engineer Luc Duval says the cost will be just under $2MÂ , after a $400K grant, which will be financed through the Infrastructure Ontario program.
It’s a five year loan, and the payments will be made by the savings through cheaper power and maintenance costs.
Duval says the project is self-financing through those savings.
Over 90 municipalities have already gone the way of the LED’s.
