News LED lights almost ready to go SHARE ON: Taylor Ablett, staff Tuesday, Mar. 24th, 2015 Timmins city council is one step further to getting LED street lights installed. They decided last night to sign a contract with Real Term Energy, to have almost four-thousand lights installed around town. City Engineer Luc Duval says the cost will be just under $2M , after a $400K grant, which will be financed through the Infrastructure Ontario program. It’s a five year loan, and the payments will be made by the savings through cheaper power and maintenance costs. Duval says the project is self-financing through those savings. Over 90 municipalities have already gone the way of the LED’s.
