Charity hockey tournament in town this weekend

The Canadian Institute of Mining is a national not for profit, which aims to bring mining professionals together. This weekend, the CIM Porcupine Branch is hosting a province wide hockey tournament in Timmins, at Archie Dillon and The Mac. President Kyle Buckoll says the company does a handful of events in the community.

Buckoll says says funds raised from this tournament will go into two different schools, including Timmins High.

The other school to benefit from the tournament is the Haileybury School of Mines.

There will be 16 teams competing for the top spot this weekend.

There is also a free social event on Saturday night and thousands of dollars in prizes.

There is still room for one more team to sign up for the recreational tournament; if you are interested email Kyle Buckoll at [email protected]
