Operation Back Pack is sending basic school supplies to an isolated reserve

A shipment of school supplies has arrived in the isolated Kashechewan reserve, which is only accessible by air.

Timmins-James Bay MP Charlie Angus has been working with the humanitarian groups True North Aid and Sew on Fire to have basic supplies shipped up.

He says it’s hard for students to be excited about school when there is no access to pencils, paper, and other basics.

Backpacks were filled with supplies, and then flew in by Air Creebec.
