Bringing the sellers to the purchasers

The tables were turned on Tuesday at the Timmins Chamber of Commerce “Meet the Purchasers” trade show.

Instead of sellers of industrial equipment and services setting up booths, the people who buy for their companies were on the presenter’s side of the tables.

Lake Shore Gold Timmins West warehouse coordinator Brian Prince sums up the value of the event, saying “Sometimes you don’t know what’s out there until you actually see it.”

Prince says it’s his opportunity to learn what’s available, and find the best values.

“Anything mining supply, ingenuity, new products, cheaper products, long lasting products kind of thing.”

He’s also looking for the best price.

“It’s good to get competition.  You can’t have all your eggs in one basket. It’s good to see all the eggs out there.”

My Timmins Now Dot Com: “Make better use of your budget.”

Prince: “Yeah.”

Purchasers were mostly from area mines.  Timmins and District Hospital, Ontario Power Generation and Ontario Northland were also there.
