$1M FedNor investment into Northern First Nations

Nearly $1 millionĀ is going into Northern First Nation communities thanks to FedNor.

President of the Treasury Board, Tony Clement, made the announcement in Timmins yesterday, on behalf of Greg Rickford. Clement says the investment is to encourage Aboriginal development and growth.

It will also support two innovation and technology projects delivered by the Mushkegowuk council.

Clement then went on to speak about the Ring of Fire. He says two things need to happen before the Ring of Fire can see any sort of success.

Clement says the first thing you need is the economic conditions, so that private sector companies will be confident there will be a return on investment.

Clement says the second thing you need is Ontario to have a working relationship with First Nation communities. This is so they can have an understanding of economic success that works for both parties.
