Railmark Canada is set to take over the passenger service on the Algoma-Central-Railway. This is good news, as it should bring some stability to the service.
MP for Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing, Carol Hughes, says the lack of certainty is affecting bookings because tourists aren’t going to put a down payment on a vacation they may not be able to take.
Railmark is asking for $7M over five years from the federal government. Although they haven’t signed on yet, Hughes still says it’s a positive development.
