Being able to suspend Timmins Police officers without pay is something the police board is talking about. As it stands now, TPS has no control over it, as it is mandated by the provincial Police Services Act. The board has passed a motion for the chief to have the power to make that decision. In order for it to come into effect, the province would need to approve it. The officer would either have to be charged or in custody in order for pay to be suspended. The motion will go to the Wynne government.
