Defeat for Mushkegowuk-James Bay MPP Guy Bourgoin’s private member’s bill to improve winter highway maintenance in the north.
It lost a vote in the legislature on Thursday, 59 to 38.
In a statement following the legislature vote, Bourgoin blasts the Ford Conservatives, saying they “shamelessly put a price on the lives of people that tragically die and get injured on Northern Ontario highways every winter.”
He also notes that the three northern cabinet ministers – Vic Fedeli, Ross Romano and Greg Rickford skipped the vote. He accuses them of preferring to tow Ford’s line, rather than standing up to protect families in the north.
