Potluck supper, silent auction at Anti-Hunger Coalition Timmins Harvest Moon event

The variety of dishes is almost staggering,  whenever Anti-Hunger Coalition Timmins puts on its annual harvest moon potluck supper.

This year’s edition is next Saturday, September 21st at Covenant United Church on Eighth Ave. at Pine St.

Executive director Jennifer Vachon says there’s no list of who’s bringing what.

“In the past, it’s really just kind of worked itself out,” she tells My Timmins Now Dot Com.  “People bring whatever they want, we end up having a good mix of veggie and meat dishes and a lot of different desserts.  People can just bring their favourite dish.”

Doors open at 4:30pm. The meal starts at 5:30pm, and it’s all followed by a homegrown silent auction.

“Local artisans and local foodies as well as local businesses of course donate to the silent auction,” Vachon outlines, “so there’s a range of everything from preserves and baked goods to knitted items or handmade jewellery and then a lot of businesses also donate local service packages as well.”

Proceeds go to the activities of Anti-Hunger Coalition Timmins in battling food insecurity.

Tickets are advised, for a suggested donation of $5.00.  They’re available from the coalition office or Facebook page.
