Market moves back to Mountjoy Arena for this weekend only

If it looks like something’s missing tomorrow (Saturday) morning as you’re driving down Riverside Drive, it’s the Mountjoy Farmers Market.

For this week only, it’s moving back to the Mountjoy Arena to be part of the Timmins Fall Fair.

Market chairman Garnet Wilcox says there will be no charge to get into the market tent from nine until one o’clock tomorrow.

“After that time, some of our vendors are still staying to about 5:00.  But after the normal hours, it’ll be entry through the fall fair, as well as on the Sunday,” he tells My Timmins Now Dot Com. “So we’ll have some vendors on Sunday as well, but it’ll be normal entry through the fall fair.”

Wilcox says there will be a lot of produce not yet seen this year, as harvest season progresses.

“Last week, we saw things like cabbage, squash, spaghetti squash, zucchini, stuff like that,” says the market chairman. “So you’re going to see more of that.  Potatoes, corn, so we’ve got local corn at basically 50 cents a piece and some of our regular stuff too, like potatoes, carrots, beets (and) turnips.”
