‘Let’s not make it any easier for (burglars)’

You’ve heard all the precautions from police about leaving your house unoccupied for any length of time:  make it look lived-in, and have neighbours keep an eye on things, for instance.

With the long weekend upon us, Timmins Police communications coordinator Marc Depatie adds something else.  Don’t leave any tools like rakes lying around your yard.  Any would-be burglar could use them to break in to your garage, shed or house.

“Those things can quite often be used as a tool of opportunity,” advises Depatie.  Let’s not make it any easier for these guys.  Harden the target, as they say.”

 Platoon officers will be watching for potential break-and-enters this weekend, while their counterparts in the traffic division will be focused on aggressive, impaired and distracted driving, as well as seatbelt use.
