Rock on the River discourages drinking and driving with shuttle services

Next weekend’s Rock on the River music festival is taking concrete steps to discourage people from drinking and driving.

Timmins Festivals and Events chairman John Olaveson says Timmins Transit to and from Participark will be free for anyone who can produce a ticket or wristband.  And First Student is providing shuttle service east- and westbound at the end of the night on both Friday and Saturday.

Olaveson hopes the service also reduces the number of cars on site.

“Parking is a bit of an obstacle at Participark,” he notes.  “There’s a small parking lot across the road but other than that, we don’t want people drinking and driving either.”

Taxis will be on site for service right to your door.  Of course, it will be first-come, first-served.

The Sheepdogs and Tim Hicks are Friday’s headliners, and Theory on Saturday.
