The East End Family Health Team is celebrating a milestone 15th anniversary.
It’s been around since before family health teams were a thing in this area.
As medical secretary and social media manager Martine Leblanc tells My Timmins Now Dot Com, it has been at Northern College all that time.
“We are attached to the college, but we do have about 15-hundred patients from the Timmins and district area,” Leblanc outlines. “We do have a student clinic on Thursday evenings for all of their episodic needs while they are away at school. So if they need any medical support, we are here to support them.”
Leblanc says the team has one physician and three nurse practitioners.
“We also have a pharmacist, a dietitian, we have a health promoter and then we’re also set up for Ontario Telenetwork, so we do OTN televisits at our clinic as well.”
While the health team helps ease the local shortage of family doctors, at 1,500 patients, it can’t accept any more.
