Timmins Police are cracking down on a problem on Riverside Drive

There will be no more warnings, only tickets for transport drivers who block Riverside Drive while unloading vehicles at car dealerships along there.

Timmins Police communications coordinator Marc Depatie says the trucks block the travelled portion or the turning lanes, setting up hazards for pedestrians and other drivers.

“Say you’re heading west,” he says by way of illustration, “you wheel around the corner and then suddenly there’s a need to change lanes or come to a sudden stop because of this type of offloading.  That’s not acceptable.”

Depatie says there’s an obvious solution.

“There are a number of other avenues available to accomplish this task, not the least of which making use of the parking lots of the various dealerships in the area.”
