Liberals in hot water over Sudbury bribe allegations

The chief electoral officer of Elections Ontario says two Liberals contravened the Elections Act in connection with an alleged bribe in Sudbury.

And Greg Essensa names the premier’s deputy chief of staff, Pat Sorbara and Sudbury’s Gerry Lougheed Junior.

Essensa has given his report to the assistant deputy attorney general because Elections Ontario doesn’t have the power to carry out prosecutions.

At issue is former Liberal candidate Andrew Olivier being tempted with a job offer by two high-ranking Liberals if he allowed someone else to seek the Sudbury nomination in a by-election.
