‘Try a tri’ added to Heart of Gold Triathlon

From the least experienced to the most seasoned, this year’s Heart of Gold Triathlon in Timmins has an event for everyone aged eight and up. It’s set for Sunday, July 7th at Gillies Lake.

Race director Jeremie Lamothe says there’s something for every skill level and age, starting at eight.  Of course, the marquee race is the sprint, for the most experienced triathlete.

“Seven-hundred-and-50 metres for the swim,” he says, “20 kilometres for the bike. five kilometres for the run.”

New this year is the “Try a Tri” race, in which each of those distances is cut in half.

Lamothe says adding events – including a duathlon, which is a bike and run, no swimming – and reducing entry fees are part of the effort to attract more participants.

“Come out and have some fun.  It’s not meant to be a stressful day.  It is a heard event but at the same time, I believe anyone can really do it.”

More details are here.
