Until the water recedes on the Mattagami River, Porcupine Lake and other water courses in and around Timmins, road closures and detours will be a fact of life.
The Mattagami rose by about four inches overnight. A reliable source tells My Timmins Now Dot Com that that’s because Ontario Power Generation released a bit more water upstream.

Norman Street isn’t flooded yet, but the potential has led to it being closed between the city snow dump and Lafleur Drive. Local traffic is still getting through.
One closure that isn’t flood-related is Airport Road between Westmount Boulevard and Riverpark Road. It’s because of a water main break.
