The Jocko Creek Culvert needs serious updates, but that might close a major road.

The construction would shut down 655 for 15 straight days in the late summer.

The proposed detour is almost 70 km out of the way.

However, the good thing is that it would save two and a half million dollars.

The other option would have one lane open at all times during construction.

Some councillors voiced concern that 15 days could turn into a month, as it tends to happen during construction.

The MTO isn’t necessarily asking for permission, but are looking for feedback from the surrounding municipalities to see what makes the most sense.

Mayors from the area will be meeting to give feedback to the MTO.
