Never leave your drink unattended, says Crime Stoppers

The Cochrane Crime Stoppers is warning everyone about date rape drugs, after a young woman ended up in the hospital. She was at a local bar when her drink was spiked with the drug commonly known as roofies. There is no taste to the drug, and can cause victims to pass out, be sick, or incoherent, making them a target for sexual assault. Crime Stoppers is asking anyone who knows of someone using the drug, or has been a victim, to report it immediately.

Cochrane District Crime Stoppers are asking the public to report the use of date rape drugs.

Approximately 2 weeks ago a young adult was suspected of having their drink unknowingly drugged in a local establishment.

Date rape drugs such as Roofies or Ketamine are slipped into a victim’s drink.

The victim becomes incapacitated so they may fall prey to a sexual assault.

Symptoms include being uncoordinated, sleepy, sick or incoherent.

When going out socially, always go with a friend or in a group.

Never leave your drink unattended or accept one from a stranger.

If you suspect someone of either committing this crime or being the victim of it, call 911.
