Local police officer plays a cop on TV drama ‘Cardinal’

Not only is Rick Lemieux a police officer, now he plays one on television.

The constable with the Timmins Police Service is in North Bay this week, filming two episodes for season 4 of the police drama, “Cardinal.”  They will air sometime next year.

Lemieux has no lines.  He only appears as an extra.

thinks his real-life experience, along with the demo tape he sent to producers came in handy.

“Police officers, they do certain things when they take out their handcuffs and that kind of stuff,” he says, “so I’m sure that helped me get the role.”

Lemieux says this is something he has always wanted to do.  And as the local DARE officer, he often tells his students that if you want something, you’ve got to go for it.

“Because I find too often, I see people say ‘I want to do and I want to do that’, but as soon as there’s a little bit of trouble or they have to put a little bit of work into it, they go ‘Aah, I’m not doing it anymore.’ Well, no! If you want to do something, you’ve got to go out and do it.  You’ve got to earn it, you’ve got to work for things.”
