Timmins man researching need for accessible taxi service

Rick Beaudry says there’s a niche to be filled in accessible transportation in Timmins, so he’s researching whether he could fill it.

Beaudry’s gathering information to determine whether an accessible taxi service would be viable.  It would have to be licenced as any other taxi service, and charge the same rates.

He has taken to social media to survey the public.

“We’ve got a Facebook page. It’s up right now,” Beaudry tells My Timmins Now Dot Com.   “What we’re looking for is some public input. There’s several polls and the more insight we have, the more we’ll be able to move forward regarding what the public would actually need and the number of vehicles and what not.”

He already has a vision of what the service would be like.

“It’s door-to-door service,” he envisions. “Our drivers will meet our clients at their door, know their name, and already have a profile of that specific member so we know how to accommodate them in the best fashion possible.”

The service would have to follow the same regulations as any taxi service, and charge the same rates.

To get in on the survey, go to Facebook and in the search bar at the top, enter “Accessible Transportation Services”.
