OPSEU Rally in Timmins

A rally was held in Timmins this week to support the Ontario Public Services Union.

OPSEU is in contract talks with the province. Timmins-James Bay MPP Gilles Bisson was at the rally. Bisson says the government is asking for concessions which could add up to four-dollars an hour. He says the government has mismanaged tax dollars, but that shouldn’t reflect on employees.

He says the government is being very hard with their bargaining. Privatization and the gas plants are part of the reason there is a lack of funds, says Bisson.

Bisson says worker concessions proposed by the province could add up to four dollars an hour.

Bisson says the rallies are meant to give information to the workers and the public about what is happening with bargaining. Rallies have been held across Ontario over the past couple of months.
