Get messy for a cause

The Kamiskotia ski hills are getting a little colour. The Canadian Cancer Society has announced a fundraising event that has never been done before. Their Youth Troup is organizing ski (or snowboard) for the cure. Erin Van Alstine, volunteer co-ordinator, says the event has a northern twist.

Colour Your Slope is the equivalent of a colour run, but on skis or snowboards. Those who register will get painters coveralls, and will be sprayed with paint on the way down the chalet run.

There will be a contest after to see who had the best paint splattered on their coveralls.

Van Alstine says the paint will stay on the hills after the ski. She says this is a reminder that although the event is finished, the fight against cancer is not.

Pre-registration is $20 until February 15th for adults, and $10 for kids. Day of registration is $25 and $15, respectively.

Fundraising is encouraged, but not mandatory. Pledge forms are available at the Canadian Cancer Society Office located at 273 3rd Ave.
