‘ALL-CLEAR’ GIVEN TO FOLEYET TAP WATER

It’s safe again to drink, cook and do whatever else the people of Foleyet use their tap water for.

Public Health Sudbury and Districts had issued a water advisory on the weekend, when a power outage led to a drop in pressure in the water lines.  That could have meant contamination.

Testing now proves the tap water is safe.

But before the 200 residents start using the water again, the health unit has these steps to follow:

  • Run cold water faucets for five minutes or until the water runs clear.
  • Run drinking fountains for five minutes before using the water or until the water runs clear.
  • Run water softeners through a regeneration cycle.
  • Drain and refill hot water heaters.
  • Large-volume users (for example, schools) may need to run cold water taps for a longer period of time on first use.
  • To get rid of sediment, faucet screens should be removed, rinsed and put back in place.
