WATER ADVISORY FOR FOLEYET

Anyone who gets their tap water from the municipal supply in Foleyet is being advised not to use it, except for laundry and bathing.

In a news release, Public Health Sudbury & Districts says a power outage knocked out the water supply.  It has been re-established, but a loss in pressure can cause contamination.

It also says that the water should not be used “for drinking, making juice, infant formula, ice,  cooking, washing uncooked fruits and vegetables; or brushing teeth. ”  Small children should not be bathed in it, in case they swallow some of the water.

Boiling the water is not guaranteed to solve any potential problem. Bottled water is the advised source until testing confirms the tap water is safe again.  But bottled water, if used for infant formula, the health authority says, should be boiled.

Questions on how to do that and other inquiries can be made at the health authority’s information line,

705-522-9200, ext. 398, toll-free at 1-866-522-9200 or at www.phsd.ca.
