To kick off the fundraising event at Timmins Square, Gorf Manufacturing/Contracting will donate a cheque for $500. Gorf Treasurer Brad Norkum notes that that’s $10 for every year it’s been in business. “We’re kind of hoping that our contribution will entice other businesses into donating $10 for years in business, or ten dollars in general.” There’s no doubt in Norkum’s mind that the Santa Claus Fund is worth supporting. “We have for as long as I can remember,” he comments. “It’s a great cause. We’ve got to feed those empty bellies, especially at Christmas.” The radiothon runs live on Moose FM, TODAY from 9:00am to 9:00pm. The target is to beat last year’s total of $52,000. It was converted into grocery vouchers for 375 needy families.
