UPDATE: Person Found Dead At Porcupine Mall Identified

UPDATE – 11/13/2018 – 3:15pm

Timmins Police have determined the identity of the dead body found early Monday outside the Porcupine Mall.

TPS says the deceased is 28-year-old Porcupine resident Chelsea Nakogee.

Police say her next-of-kin has been alerted and the matter currently remains under investigation with the Timmins Police Services’ Criminal Investigations Division.

A post-mortem examination is still set for Wednesday in Sudbury.

UPDATE – 4:05pm

The Timmins Police Service has yet to rule out foul play in regards to the body found at Porcupine Mall earlier this morning.

TPS Communications Coordinator Marc Depatie has updated us saying that the identity of the body has not been confirmed, only that it was an Indigenous woman. The body has since been removed from the scene.

TPS is viewing this as an isolated incident.

Anyone with information or who may have witnessed suspicious activity around Porcupine Mall Sunday evening or overnight, please contact local police or Crime Stoppers.

Timmins Police Communications Coordinator Marc Depatie has provided us with an update that the scene has been released and everything is back open. Arrangements for a postmortem are being made and that this was an isolated incident with no concern for public safety.

One person was found dead at Porcupine Mall.

Early this morning Timmins Police got called to the Porcupine Mall after a body was discovered.

The Criminal Investigations Division have the scene under control and have restricted access to certain areas during the investigations. The mall is open, but the walking path off of Michener is closed and has been taped off.

The identity of the person found dead has not been confirmed and the investigation is still in the initial stages in figuring out of foul play was involved. This is deemed an isolated incident with no concern for public safety.
