NDP Transportation Critic says the Liberal government is failing Northern Ontario once again. Algoma-Manitoulin MPP Michael Mantha, says roads up here aren’t being properly salted, sanded, and cleared.
Mantha says it is provincial rules that roads must be salted within 30 minutes of a storm, and highways need to be cleared to the pavement within 8 hours after.
He says he has been flooded with complaints about the road conditions, with people saying it is a skating rink. Mantha says Northerners deserve better, and the concern is drivers being injured or killed before the government steps in.
