Sleep Clinic will Continue in Timmins

The sleep clinic at the Timmins and District Hospital will be continuing.

The sleep clinic works with people who have sleeping disorders. According to a news release, the Timmins clinic does about 2,200 sleep study exams on an annual basis.

Since January TADH has been trying to privatize the clinic and have a partner take over so it wouldn’t have to close or move to another city because of budget cuts. The hospital says Hospital Alliance Group will be continuing the six-bed clinic in Timmins. Chief Financial Officer Bryan Bennetts says the change over should be fairly easy. “It should be very seamless for people. It’s going to be in the same location as it was previously. Right now we are just trying to line up staffing to provide the resources in the clinic to work with the patients.”

“They’re working as quickly as they can to take over the operation of the sleep lab. Early indications are that we could expect as early as the end of November providing everything goes according to plan.” Bennetts says patients should be getting contacted by the Hospital Alliance Group very soon.
