A flood warning is now in effect for the Mattagami River Watershed.

The Timmins Flood Advisory Committee says water levels on the rivers and streams are rising steadily because of all the recent rain. The committee says the exact extent of flooding is difficult to predict at this time. It says over the next 24 hours low lying areas may see some flooding, but it is not expected to impact any homes yet. If you live in a flood hazard zone, you are encouraged to monitor the conditions and take some steps to protect your property.

The committee says fast flowing water must be avoided and stream banks will be very slippery and unsafe. It adds that it will be monitoring the water flows and sending out more information as it becomes available.
