Timmins’ new Mayor and city council is getting sworn in tonight. Outgoing Mayor, Tom Laughren, has been honoured across the city in the past week with goodbye celebrations. Laughren says to The Moose, that the best part of being Mayor for him was meeting all kinds of different people.

Laughren says the city may have cold days, but we have fresh air, we have ski hills, and arenas all within 15 minutes of home. He also says that it’s been an honour and a privilege to serve for almost 20 years. He says he did the best he can every day, and he thinks the new council will stay on the same vein to better the city.

Steve Black officially takes over tonight, and Laughren says he thinks the new council will continue on the trend of bettering Timmins.
