Residents Celebrate 25 Years of Welcome to Timmins Night

Going to Welcome to Timmins Night is an annual tradition according to one Timmins resident.

The Timmins Multicultural Centre hosted its 25th annual event to help new, old and incoming residents learn about the programs, services and organizations that work in the city.

Pat Dawkins was born and raised in Timmins and has attended all 25 vendor shows. Dawkins says for her it’s more than just learning about what’s in town, but it’s also a social gathering. “I met so many people here tonight that I haven’t seen in a while and we talked.” She adds that ” I didn’t even get around to every table tonight, and it’s closing.”

Dawkins says every year she learns something new about Timmins. “There are different people and different tables, I just like it.”

She says she loves Timmins and will never leave this city. Dawkins adds that she will keep pushing her walker around the event until she is physically unable to attend anymore.
