Vanthof asks Premier why local contractors haven’t been paid in FIT project

MPP for Temiskaming-Cochrane, John Vanthof, is calling on the Premier to honour $21 million worth of energy contracts. Vanthof says that Canadian Solar was granted a FIT Contract in 2012 for the Temiskaming Shores. A FIT contract is to promote the use of renewable energy by growing the facilities that generate this energy. The MPP for Temiskaming-Cochrane says local contractors haven’t been paid for their work on the FIT project.

Vanthof says the Minister of Energy and the Premier have both been alerted of the issue, but nothing has been done. The Premier passed on answering the question, and the Minister says he will look into the issue.
