Environmental issues will be the focal point of an upcoming workshop.
The Friends of the Porcupine River Watershed and the Canadian Environmental Law Association are teaming up to host an environmental issues and rights presentation. CELA Summer Student Alexandra Robertson says the workshop will focus on how environmental contaminants affect you and how decisions affect your community.
Robertson says the third part of the presentation will go over how contaminants like radon affect your health, as well as energy efficiency and retrofit programs.
She says CELA is also working on a Northern Services pilot project that should launch this fall. Robertson says the project aims to bring more services and knowledge on environmental laws to northern communities. She says CELA will be using this workshop to hear what people in Timmins need.
The Friends of the Porcupine River Watershed will use the presentation to go over its plans and goals for the Timmins area. The free presentation will take place at the Senator Hotel on August 9th from 3:00pm to 4:00pm.
