The Federal government has agreed to put more funding into the Ring of Fire. Greg Rickford, the Natural Resources Minister, said in a press conference this week that mining is important to Canada, but that the Ontario government would also have to foot some of the bill. 11-billion dollars will be allocated to Ontario projects over the next ten years. However, the province would have to identity the Ring of Fire as a priority in order for that project to receive any of that funding.
